ARCHIVE VIDEO from my other channel, originally published on Nov 29, 2011:
The multiplayer in Halo Anniversary certainly makes an attempt to capture the feel of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The first half of the video are the majority of the differences between the original Halo CE's multiplayer physics and Halo Anniversary's multiplayer physics (which is just an extension of Halo Reach's multiplayer). The 2nd half of the video is where we compare both multiplayer games in a LAN party setting, to see for ourselves how well 343 Industries captured the feel of the original.
In the middle of the video, at the 3:05 mark, we show how we further tweak the general settings in Halo Anniversary's multiplayer
to better mimic Halo CE's multiplayer. These changes include:
Changing the starting grenade count to 4
Reducing movement speed back to 100%
Reducing jump height to 90%
Reducing player gravity to 75%
Also, turning off that flame effect when a player has an overshield will further mimic Halo CE as well.
The player gravity and jump height GREATLY enhance the feel of mimicking the original Halo. We found in our LAN party environment, bouncing back and forth between both Halo games, that these simple tweaks make Halo Anniversary much more enjoyable and authentic to the original. It is puzzling why 343 Industries failed to make even these slight changes in the Anniversary Multiplayer online playlist. Had they done so, much of the criticism of Halo Anniversary's multiplayer being an extension of Halo Reach may have been drastically reduced.
