A rough start but the might of Congress quickly picks up momentum. Politics!? Boo!

Anywho, the Senator faction is interesting despite its simplicity. They get +50% gold and iron per month and get numerous opportunities to recruit champions and gladiator units. Their standard units are all legionaires that all use large shields except for the the most expensive one which uses long spears. They also have heavy infantry. But with large shields and decent health, its possible to have a durable force along with mobility. The legionaires (cept for the long spears) can throw one javelin per battle allowing the back row to participate for the initial assault. Unfortunately, this is their only range attack as you have no access to archers or crossbows.

Another benefit is watch towers can act as citadels for the Senator. This means those little towers can be used to recruit more units and champions. With the amount of gold you make (you start off with a town by the way), its very easy to recruit multiple units per month with little issue. But, summoning mass units and stampeding like the Baron is not their only means of battle. They are able to recruit some unique champions. Some are useless much like the Senator himself like the Renator. But, the Augur is able to act as a scout without ever leaving the capital as he uses scry to reveal 3x3 areas of the map each turn for 3 gold. The Reveler is useless in combat but has the ability to spend 25 gold at an Ancient Forest and that spot will continuously spawn uncontrolled satyr and other fae to explore and battle random creatures for you.

The lack of any serious range attack is what hurts this faction the most. But with the massive amount of gold you gather, its possible to instead field many mages that happen to come by. Unfortunately I do not take advantage of this till much later.
