정적인 퍼즐과는 다른, 움직이는 애니메이션 퍼즐을 맞추는 게임입니다. 2x2부터 10x10까지 총 6단계의 난이도를 선택해 플레이할 수 있으며, 난이도가 높아질수록 애니메이션과의 전쟁이 시작됩니다.
기존 퍼즐 게임들과의 가장 큰 차이점은 퍼즐 조각마다 애니메이션이 작동한다는 점입니다. 완성된 원본 이미지가 움직이듯, 분리된 퍼즐 조각도 애니메이션을 유지하기 때문에 조각을 보고 원본을 유추하는 게 훨씬 더 어렵고 혼란스럽습니다. 특히, 여러 조각에서 비슷한 방향으로 움직이는 애니메이션이 중첩되면 눈이 아프거나 울렁거릴 정도죠.
이러한 난이도 속에서도 각 레벨은 나름의 공략 포인트를 제공합니다. 예를 들어 회전형 레벨은 중심점을 기준으로, 쌓이는 연출이 있는 퍼즐은 아래쪽부터 조립하는 식으로 움직임의 흐름을 분석하며 공략해야 합니다. 다만 전체가 비슷하게 움직이거나 방향성이 불분명할 경우에는 상당한 난이도를 경험하게 되며, 이럴 땐 힌트 기능이나 원본 이미지 확인 기능이 없다는 점이 다소 불친절하게 느껴지기도 합니다.
게임에는 그룹 시스템도 존재해 퍼즐 조각들을 한 번에 이동시킬 수 있습니다. Ctrl 키를 누른 채 원하는 조각들을 선택한 후, Z 키로 그룹핑하여 묶고, 그룹 단위로 위치를 조절하며 퍼즐을 구성하는 방식이죠. 하지만 조각을 빠르게 선택하는 드래그 기능이나 재선택 시 해제되는 간단한 조작이 지원되지 않아 컨트롤의 편의성이 조금 떨어지는 편입니다.
너무 어렵게 느껴진다면 캐주얼 모드로 애니메이션 속도를 늦춰 퍼즐을 보다 쉽게 분석할 수 있습니다. 하지만 이 모드에서는 클리어로 인정되지 않기 때문에 도전과제를 노리는 플레이어라면 일반 모드로 도전해야 하죠. 또한, 난이도 선택 시 시각적으로 구분이 다소 애매하고, 게임 도중 빠르게 재시작할 수 있는 퀵 버튼이 없다는 점도 아쉬운 요소입니다.
그럼에도 불구하고 퍼즐 팬이라면 생소하지만 흥미로운, 움직임과 정밀함이 결합된 색다른 경험을 느낄 수 있을 것입니다.

Unlike static puzzles, each piece in Consonance continues to animate—just like the full image it's a part of—making it far more difficult to judge piece placement. As puzzle size increases, visual chaos rises, and identifying correct locations becomes a game of movement pattern recognition rather than image matching.
Fortunately, each stage offers subtle strategy points. Rotating scenes can be solved from the slow-moving center outward, while stack-building scenes are often easier to build from the base. When animations are too uniform, though, puzzle-solving can become a serious visual challenge, especially since there's no hint or preview feature, which might feel a bit punishing for some players.
To help manage complexity, the game allows grouping multiple pieces together (Ctrl + select, then press Z). This enables you to move partial constructions as a unit, reposition them, and iteratively complete the puzzle. However, there’s no drag-to-select or deselect toggle, which slightly hampers control fluidity.
If the animations are too distracting or overwhelming, Casual Mode slows down the motion—but this disables clear completion tracking, so completionists will need to stick to standard play. And while the UI is clean, a quick-restart button or clearer difficulty indicators could enhance the experience.
Still, for puzzle fans seeking a visually rich, hypnotic challenge, Consonance offers a memorably unique spin on jigsaw gameplay.
