Contra 3! Hard Mode, No Continues & Default Lives - SNES
13Contra 3 was one of my favorite games on the Super Nintendo. It's short, like the classic originals, with only 6 levels, but each one has a great theme with amazing bosses and set pieces. Since I know this game pretty well, I wanted to do another challenge run. You get the true ending on hard mode with an extra final boss. Besides knowing the boss's patterns, it's important to know which weapons are strong and how to do the toggle trick. The double crush setup is the go-to, but you still need to survive to keep them at all times. Once again, I find it so great that a game this short can have so much replay value so many years later. It's also a blast to play with a friend. One key thing I never knew about until recently is that you can spin faster by double tapping either shoulder button, then continuing to hold it down for the top-down perspective stages. This is essential to beating the level 5 boss, which I explain in the run, and it's so funny that I never knew about this for over 20 years.
