0I played well until the final stage, then it went sour. I had enough lives stocked up to finish though.

- When I'm playing, I'm used to playing with the extra Hit Points on the life bar and the Weapon Durability so that I don't lose my powered up weapon when I take a hit. When I was fighting the level 8 beginning boss, hoo boy did I get wrecked. I should have tanked some of his hits at the beginning of the fight and just lit him up until I died. As it was, I lost both weapons and he had me on the ropes for part of it. I went in with 10 lives and finished that fight with 5. Ouch.
- Steve Blum is the man for voicing my video game hero - Bill Rizer. His voice is perfect for it, and how I'll always imagine him speak. He previously voiced Master Contra in Neo Contra, and his performance was outstanding there too.
- Contra Operation Galuga is my game of the year for 2024. You can see how early in the year it is with the upload date - trust me - no other shmup or run n gun will come out in 2024 to surpass COG. It's just too good. I love the Contra series.
- Bill Rizer is a great character - his Spread Shot covers a majority of the screen when powered up, and even after a single pick up, is still lethal at close range. Bill can also double jump, as well as slide, so he's got a lot of mobility options, making it easy to avoid attacks.
- I'd been practicing for the Hard Corps achievement for a few days but wanted to get the achievement on screen - while practicing, I'd use Perks like Level 2 Overloads and Bill's Spirit - stuff that kept me with three health points and to lose weapon power ups when I took a hit.
- The night that I recorded this - I work afternoon to night, and I was going to do this the next day when I woke up, so I'd be fresh, but screw it - I really wanted to play the night that I got home from work, and - tired and run down - I played anyway. My performance suffers at times because of that, but I still got the Hard Corps achievement, and didn't do too bad against the final boss, so I'm good with it.
