8Corpse Party (ć³ć¼ćć¹ćć¼ćć£ć¼, KÅpusu PÄtÄ«) is a survival horror adventure game developed and published by Kenix Soft for the PC-98 using RPG Tsukuru Dante 98 (RPG Maker). It was later ported by Team GrisGris, and Mages to different consoles and various devices, and localized by Marvelous, and XSeed. The original PC98 released on in Japan on April 22, 1996, while updated and localized ports released in North America on October 20, 2021.
The games story revolves around a group of Japanese high school students, celebrating their school's cultural festival. The group are telling ghost stories when a sudden earthquake transports them to a dilapidated schoolhouse in an alternate dimension. There they find the ghosts of people who have been trapped there.
One ghost in particular seeks to trap everyone and keep them there for all eternity.
There have been various adaptions of the game into Manga, Anime, as well as a Movie adaptation based on the title. It is also part of a list of banned anime, manga, and games by The Chinese Ministry of Culture.
The game's soundtrack was composed by Mao Hamamoto.
