4Haunted Castle (悪魔城ドラキュラ, Akumajō Dorakyura, Demon Castle Dracula) is an arcade game developed and published by Konami. It was originally released in North America on December 26, 1987 and in Japan on February 22, 1988.
"Haunted Castle" is a side-scrolling action game that is also part of the Castlevania series, known as "Akumajou Dracula" in Japan. The game is a retelling of the original Castlevania game, and follows the protagonist, Simon Belmont, as he embarks on a quest to rescue his wife, Serena, who has been kidnapped by Dracula.
The soundtrack features several tracks that have been reused in other Castlevania games.
The Stage 1 theme "Cross Your Heart", was reused in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin under the title "Crucifix Held Close".
The Stage 3 theme "Bloody Tears" was used in Castlevania II.
The Stage 5 theme "Clockwork's Beat" was remixed in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow under the name "Underground Melodies" (actually the name of Haunted Castle's Stage 4 theme).
The Stage 6 theme was remixed in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for Julius' theme "Heart of Fire".
The game's soundtrack was composed by Kenichi Matsubara, Masahiro Ikariko, and "T".
