IMPORTANT INFO: My headphones recently broke, so I didn't use any when making this! This means there are very likely some audio balancing issues that I couldn't catch. I purposefully made a song that didn't need any bass and was generally pretty simple to remedy this as much as possible, but keep in mind it probably isn't perfect in that regard.

Also: you can hear the live piano sounds of parts moving in the piano in one of the piano VSTs I used, around the minute thirty mark - this isn't intentional, but I couldn't turn it off, so do your best to ignore it.

Also also: I forgot to put "Demo v1" in the picture used for the video. Rest assured, this is certainly NOT the final version. In fact, this is probably the most "rough-around-the-edges' of all of the ones I've released so far.

Alright, now for stuff about the process or making the song, then the lore stuff.

So this first point is actually kinda an insight as to how I often make songs in general. You see, I don't actually know any music theory, so actually sitting down and "writing a song" doesn't tend to work well for me.

How I make the majority of my music is that I'm humming to myself - which I do a LOT - and sometimes, I hum a melody, and I'm like "Woah... that's a really good melody...". Sometimes I just quickly make the melody and save it to my PC, but if I know what I want to use the melody for right away, I just make a song out of it right then and there. I've wanted to do this multiple times the past couple months, but the song I had in mind was always a bit to advanced to do without headphones, but luckily the song I thought of this time was a simpler one!

Fun fact about this song: this was originally just a piano + percussion track, lacking the strings that join near the end. However at some point my brain did what it always did and went "but... piano + strings though...". You see, to me, Piano and Strings go together like me and not sticking to "do something daily" challenges. So really well. Possibly because Piano is strings, technically.

However I had a dilemma: if you go back to previous songs of mine, you may notice that the non-electric-guitar string instruments are usually relatively low quality. This was for one simple reason: I could not find a good string vst. However, this time, I though "I already have LABS installed for the Soft Piano, let's see if the strings are any good" and was greeted with a string vst like 10 times better than any I've used. Nice!

So I added a new "verse" to the song featuring the strings, and at that point it felt mostly complete. I tried messing around with the percussion a bit, but it never felt right, and by that point I was kinda ready to stop making the song. So in future versions, expect some new percussion!

LORE TIME: This track actually relates to a SPOLER AREA. And a SPOILER CHARACTER. As in even saying the name of the area past "[REDACTED]'s Domain" or the name of the character would be a spoiler. So I can't share too much. At least not directly. However stay tuned after what I can directly explain for a funny little riddle that'll make you go "ooh ahh what could this mean".

First off, the name of the track: when I say "A Puddle In A Prism" I'm more referring to a sort of "reverse-prism" in this case. Rather than White going in and Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple coming out, instead, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple come together to create White. Now I know that this doesn't actually involve a Prism and is just... how colors work. But also it reminds me of a prism so I can do what I want.

This song plays in a small area that you must gain access to in order to get the TRUE ENDING. That's right, this game has TWO ENDINGS. However, it's less of a "you get to the same place but it ends the same", the True Ending is more of an extension of the game, that includes new content and another hour or two of playtime probably. Can't say more than that obviously, but it's something to look forward to!

(Also don't worry, I'm not gonna pull a Blasphemous and lock you out of the true ending if you make a mistake early game. The True Ending can start being worked towards whenever you want).

This area contains a SPOILER CHARACTER that gives you a lot of lore about the game, 6 challenge areas you can use to gain more lore on 6 other characters I will mention in the funni riddle (plus some money or something so there's a reward for people who don't care about lore/people replaying the game), and probably a room where you can "remember" bosses you've already fought and re-fight them, similar to Hollow Knight's Godhome.

The SPOILER CHARACTER gives you a special key you can use to unlock a machine in an area standing far above The Broiler. I won't say more than that. She also gives you the general whereabouts of a secret bossfight you have to do to get the true ending, but only if you haven't stumbled across it on your own yet.

Funny lore riddle in comments (ran out of space)
