So I was thinking "yeah for these first few weeks back I'm probably just gonna be touching up old CORVID tracks I couldn't release and then releasing them" but NOPE! I woke up today with INSPIRATION!

I was woke up and was immediately overtaken by a sound in my head, a blaring synth followed by an extremely fast drum solo, then 6 high-hats, then a small pause, then repeat. I couldn't just let this idea fade away and never use it! I had to do it NOW or I would forget

This is the track for one of my favorite areas, NEO-MAGPIE CITY. The lore is that back on the surface one of if not the biggest city was Magpie City, ironically, and then in The Underneath (which is what I've decided to call CORVID's setting from now on) they decided to build a new and... improved? version of it.

Construction (and city naming) began before they knew about Corvid... whoops! But it's not all bad - this place has become a safe "haven" due to The Technova Corporation's patented Anti-Avian Defence System. Which will eventually get a new name to make it a cool acronym probably related to a bird. Rather than "AADS". Which is stupid.

Due to this, the gameplay of this area is actually very different. The city is divided up into three sections, gameplay-wise - the Streets, the Buildings, and the Alleyways.

The Streets are more or less safe - the Anti-Avian Defense System has perfectly accurate harpoon guns rigged to launch at anything with too many feathers. Even Corvid doesn't wanna mess with a harpoon through the chest if it doesn't have to. Instead...

The Alleyways are where Corvid lurks. You can enter the alleyways to get to new areas and find secrets, but there is no defense against Corvid here, and these areas are a lot harder to escape from Corvid in than most. Additionally, Corvid can quickly pop out and pull you into the Alleyways if you get too close to where it's hiding while in the Streets.

Finally, the Buildings are complete wild cards - when you enter a building you have NO idea what you're getting yourself into. It could be completely safe, it could be your worst nightmare. Make sure to use your map to mark which buildings are safe and which aren't.

Neo-Magpie City began construction when The Technova Corporation detected The Crashing Torrent - which was before anyone even know The Underneath existed. It was created to give humanity a place to stay - of course, Emily, Riley, Maxwell, their families, and a few others, were forced to stay in The Underground Forest, as Neo-Magpie City was not only out of space, but actually way overpopulated.

I haven't talked much about the picture because there isn't much to talk about, but in the far back you can see a Technova Headquarters building. The building actually uses a different version of the usual Technova logo, and by complete accident it looks like a bird, and I was like "woah I didn't even mean to do that I'm keeping it"

Uhh what else... oh so fun fact: this was HELL to make, not because the composition was particularly difficult, but because the VST I used for all of the synths absolutely DEMOLISHES my CPU.

I had originally stopped working on this and was gonna release a version of this that was noticeably worse than this one because I didn't want to deal with the insane lag, but then I was like "but... I can make it better... I can't release something if I know I can make it better..." so I went back into the program and added the Trombone (apparently, sounds more like a trumpet), piano, strings, and modified the bass. And I'm glad I did because it was a wee bit repetitive before I did that.

What else... oh fun fact, the trombone I used in this was the exact same as the one I used for THE TROMBONE JUMPSCARE at the end of the recently released BB&S.

Also if it wasn't clear, Neo-Magpie City is supposed to be very neon, but I have no clue how to draw neon so that isn't very clear, the only thing I could think of was using white outlines instead of black and adding some pink and cyan gradient lighting

Oh another thing, I'm not 100% on the title "Neon Scrapes The Sky". I think how I'm gonna do the names is that for any demos of tracks I'll keep the same name throughout, but for the final, in-game version of the tracks, I'll look through all the names to see if I can come up with anything better. I'm basically constantly coming up with better names for songs

"BLOOD, BARBS, AND STYLETS" wasn't the original name for instance, it was "Proboscis Masked" and then "Masking The Proboscis" and then I gave up that naming scheme because I realised the mask wasn't even covering the proboscis so that doesn't make sense
