Cosmic Encounter Duel Review - A Classic Redesigned!
215In this Shelfside review we cover Cosmic Encounter Duel, a tabletop board game that's a spinoff of the original Cosmic Encounter game published by Fantasy Flight Games, but designed for a two player game night! As usual, players are racing to control 5 planets like in the original board game, but now with new tactics, rules, and cards to change up the gameplay!
A different playthrough will vary widely from tabletop game to game as players can pick from 27 different factions each with their own unique abilities. Plenty of asymmetry is present here with all these new factions, but old factions make a return as envoys that have similar throwback abilities you can use to strengthen your mechanics and game strategies! And yes, the game does have players seeing who has more clout.
