Counter-Life | Breakout by Benny Blanco | No Failure Run
15Ah, Counter-Life, an old classic. Quite possibly one of the firsts, if not THE first proper gameplay mod specifically aimed towards making Half-Life play just a notch different from the usual. One might be surprised to see me only running through it now in my HL1 modmixing hooliganeries instead of early on, but I had to mirror the whole models folder first to all be left handed before properly running something with it.
Why left handed? 'Cause I feel like some variety would be nice to all the people who are running CS right handed. You almost never see left handed protagonists in FPSes. I think the only one I've played where left-handed guns are not an option you can swap off of is Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza? Missed opportunities, really. I did forgot to turn on cl_left to modify the casing ejectors, so pardons for that.
Anyways, today's map is an intriguing one to run with CLife. Mainly 'cause acquiring the crowbar/knife actually takes a while compared to regular weapons in the vanilla map. Have to dance a bit before I can buy something ranged and fight back. Gets a bit tricky to fight hgrunts without longarms, and I think that fight could've gone better, but hey, not a bad performance on Hard, hmm?
