So, after getting through that secret lab, we finally get access to our very first boss fight in the game. Most of the boss fights in this game will involve Crunch, who is a new character that was created by Cortex, who combines together with the Elementals. The boss fights differ based off of which mask he combines with but they explain very little to the actual fights. For instances, this particular boss fight has us stuck inside the ball again and we have to compete with Crunch to see who can keep control over the small boulders within the arena. They don’t tell you that the boulders have some power that your Mask friend can utilize or explain why hitting them turns them blue, they just throw you into the arena and hope that you can figure it out. Some people may hate that way of playing but I don’t mind too much; I do feel good about myself when I finally take down the boss/finish the level when I understand how to beat them. After beating the boss fights, we get these power ups that will help us with later levels as well as make the game more interesting like this one (making the player creep over the top of certain boxes that could potentially kill them in a single hit is really trolley).
