Creating a Field | Slurry | Seeding | TMR | Cows | Manure | Melons | Weeding
Welcome to The Valley The Old Farm for episode five. When we're finished shooting some hoops we head to the store and lease a 6M subsoiler for €743. We then get to work on creating a small field. When this is done, we fill up our slurry tank to prep the field for seeding by fertilizing the soil with cow slurry. We finish off work in the field by seeding sorghum which we will usefor chicken food after harvesting.
We mix up a batch of total mixed ration with silage and hay bales and feed it to the cows. We clean out the manure from the cow shed and dump it in the manure pit.
After this we loaded up two pallets of melons and sold them at San Giovanni's restaurant for €3,974. We went back to the store and purchased 2000L of herbicide for €2,400 which we filled into our sprayer back at the farm. We started spraying the weeds in our large sorghum crop, and then finished off by spraying the weeds in our crop of corn.
