This cross narrative scene is a long time in the making. As soon as I started this page, one voice that truly inspired me was the Mortal Kombat narrator voice. Building off of this and my brother Brian’s constant support to push myself to try new and more challenging voices, I decided to craft a scene where I brought the brilliant worlds of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter together. Writing the script for this project was particularly fun as I took a lot of narrative cues from both series while incorporating some creative liberties that pushed the scene and my portrayal forward.
Guile and Sub-Zero were both incredibly voiced by a plethora of actors over the years, including Steve Blum and Travis Willingham. When I began researching these voices and preparing my version that paid tribute to these stellar performances and at the same time, laid a framework for me to build up a new and unique approach to the voices. I utilized all the techniques I’ve learned in terms of vocal modulation and editing to put this piece together.
It was incredibly refreshing to do two voices that were so different to give me more room to stretch and exercise my vocal range.
I am so proud to present you all with my latest Cross Narrative Scene: Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat versus Guile from Street Fighter.
