CrossCode (PC(W,M,L)/Steam)
V1.0.2-2 (2018 Nov 28)

Achievement/Trophy: True Spheromancer
Description: Win every PvP Battle against Apollo without losing a single round.

So... CrossCode! =)

CrossCode is perhaps most simply described as an Action RPG with Puzzle elements (and IMO there are some really great puzzles in the game, especially once you've acquired multiple elemental powers!). It is pretty heavy on the Puzzle elements, though, so that is something to keep in mind if you're not a fan of puzzles in Action RPGs. IMO the action (combat) is pretty fun too, though some of the battles can be pretty challenging.

Speaking of which... yep, the battles against Apollo (especially the third battle!) can be pretty tough, if you don't go into them with a proper strategy. And though for story purposes, it's not necessary to win against Apollo (losing to him doesn't change anything major in the story)... losing to him will prevent you from getting certain "missable" Achievements (unless you load an earlier save file or start a new game): Showdown at Bergen (win battle 1), Showdown at Faj'ro (win battle 2), Showdown at Gaia's Garden (win battle 3), and True Spheromancer (win all 3 battles without losing a round).

Of course, the PvP battles against Apollo handle differently than pretty much every other battle in the game... so depending upon your general playstyle, it's possible that the strategies you've been learning and the Upgrades you've been purchasing to improve your survivability in every other battle in the game... might not be as effective in the Apollo battles. =p

For example, my first time through the game, I was able to win the first battle against Apollo (though definitely not in five rounds!) using the strategies and upgrades I'd been using against every other enemy in the game... but wasn't able to win the second or third battle. =/

So after completing the game, I started a new game to take a closer look at the Apollo battles... and after some experimentation, figured out a strategy that seemed to work well for me. ^_^

Anyway, I decided to record the Apollo battles, partly for my own benefit (in case I ever forget how I handled each battle), but mostly because I figured there were probably others out there who were also having difficulties with the Apollo battles in general, and the "True Spheromancer" achievement in specific. So if you've been having trouble with any of the Apollo battles, hopefully this video will be of some help!

Quick description of the basic strategy:
- Ignore elemental powers and just use "Neutral".
- Purchase (and use) Guard Sphere (Guard Art) and Spin Dance (Melee Art).
- If you're not familiar with Dash Cancelling ("Mys Li" in the "Info Hub" building in Rookie Harbor tells you about it), learn and practice this to get extra hits (against any opponent, not just Apollo!).
- Apollo tends to follow certain patterns/strategies for each round, so make sure to learn what he does, so you can take advantage of it!
- When Apollo uses VRPs, it's sometimes safe to close in and melee attack him... but sometimes it isn't, so make sure to learn his patterns!
- When Apollo melee attacks you, use Guard Sphere and attack!

And that's basically it! Good luck, and happy Apollo hunting! =)
