Crown of Madness was a new spell introduced to Baldur's Gate 3 in patch 6. It is a level 2 spell and if an enemy fails a wisdom saving throw then they will attack the nearest enemy to them.

This spell is not as good as it might first seem as there are several downsides to it. First of all the enemy has advantage on their wisdom saving throw against Crown of Madness, secondly they will only attack the nearest creature if they have a melee weapon and thirdly it only affects humanoids. None of these are in the spell description, which might mislead people into thinking that this is a very powerful spell.

It has its uses but most of the time I'd rather use my concentration on a different spell!

At time of recording the game was still in Early Access Patch 6, and by the time of the full release of Baldur's Gate 3 things may have changed.
