After the sudden death of her husband Joseph—a missionary who cooked with heart and purpose—Kim is left without his most treasured recipe: his version of Hakka Yong Tau Foo. It was more than a dish; it was a labour of love, a centrepiece at family celebrations, and his way of bringing people together across cultures and continents.

Now, two years on, Kim enlists Lost Recipes host Jonathan to help piece it back together. With only memories, faded photos, and taste impressions to go on, Jonathan embarks on a journey through hawker stalls, heritage kitchens and family history. Along the way, he uncovers unexpected secrets—including a mystery “crunch” ingredient that unlocks the soul of Joseph’s cooking.

As Kim and her daughters join Jonathan in the kitchen for one final test, the episode becomes a heartfelt tribute—not just to a lost recipe, but to the love, generosity and quiet devotion Joseph poured into every meal.
