Crypto-Ransomware Payments on Average. Increased by 170% year over year. The first five months of 2021 saw victims transfer $81.6 million in cryptocurrencies to cybercriminals. Over the past year, the total loss value increased by 337% to over $400 million. In the first quarter of 2021, the average ransomware payment was $54,000. There was a 170% increase YoY and a 1,700% increase in the last two years. In the seven months of this year, 21 ransomware attacks targeted the United States.
