Crystal Castles for Commodore 64(C64) just some gameplay #retro #retrogame #retrogaming #oldschool
Here I present just a little sample gameplay of the classic game Crystal Castles for the Commodore 64 computer. I have been using emulation to explore and try out games that I never had the opportunity to play when I was a kid. I'm this one (based off the arcade machine by the same name) you play Bentley bear, a little bear eager to run around a maze like structure collecting gems while avoiding gem eating creatures. If you survive and collect the last gem you get a bonus and move to the next level. If an enemy collects the last gem, there's no bonus but you still move on to the next level. if the enemies are "eating" a gem and you time it correctly, you can run over them and kill them in the process but only if they are actually swallowing the gem. So be careful if you try it. I prefer to avoid them. You do have over power up which is a magic hat located in some part of the level that gives you temporary invincibility and let's you easily take out the enemies. This game was similar to other arcade hits (centipede and millipede come to mind) in that you used a trackball to move around. unfortunately in this version as in many home versions, the lack of a trackball makes moving accurately difficult. In this version you use a joystick which makes it much less accurate. I will say that while a bit different, the sound and over all look of this version does closely resemble the arcade game. So sit back, relax, and enjoy Crystal Castles for C64. Please like, comment, and subscribe. And I'll catch you on the next level!
