1Happy Labor Day weekend to all of you! Here I present to you Altered Beast Arcade. This is a one or two player cooperative side scrolling beat em up. What makes this game special to me is the fact that if you take out some white two headed wolves you receive a power up ball that increases your size and strength. Collect three and you change into a beast form. Wolf, Dragon, Tiger, Bear, and Golden Wolf await. Each of those incarnations include powers that will let you dispatch the boss for each level. Even with the power up and change, you will still have your hands full as you will see in the video. Two player co-op is where the sweet spot is at. I tend to play solo which makes it more difficult (imo). At any rate your mission is to save your sweetheart that has been taken hostage. Survive to reach the last boss, take him out and she will be freed and return to you. This game is also special to me because it was converted and packed in with my Sega Genesis when I was a kid. Although the Genesis version looks really nice and is pretty faithful, I don't feel that it matches the difficulty level of the arcade version. So sit back, relax, and enjoy Altered Beast Arcade.
