School's cancelled once again due to snow.... so I got to go railfanning. On CSX.... again. My first train I heard on the scanner was local D779. I expected it to have a pair of Geeps, like it usual does. But today, that's not the case. Had a freaking 70MAC on the lead. Why? SD70MACs are used for road duty on CSX, not for doing small local jobs. Sorry SD70MAC, you sir, are on the wrong train. That's for the Geeps. Doesn't make sense as to why they put the big 6 axle motor on point when it's a job for the smaller 4 axle Geeps. But then they even had a Geep trailing. I wonder if CSX would let the Geep lead the northbound local with the 70MAC trailing or just flip the lashup. I question this because locals around here would run with only a pair of Geeps and only seldom have an SD40-2 or something else. The world just may never know...
