Veterum is an Indie, Isometric, Open World, Turn Based Tactics RPG.
Think Battle Brothers, but with incredible Environmental Interactivity.

Incredible Environmental Interactivity:
That’s right!
In Veterum, trees and bushes provide cover from ranged attacks, and shape the battlefield, creating natural chock-points to bottleneck your foes, or have then bottle neck you.
But these bushes and trees are not some indestructible objects here, as they are in some games, no!
In Veterum, you can cut down trees in combat, or burn em down if able, or even turn em in an Ent with the right magic; awesome!
You can attack bushes in combat to gradually cut them down, removing the cover bonus they provide; very handy.
You can even push units into fires, and they take damage, and less damage if it is raining!
You see, both the environment, and the current condition of said environment is somewhat controllable by the player, and becomes even more so as they gain more abilities and more units, presenting a clear incentive for the player to build a stronger and more capable band of warriors.

Like Battle Brothers:
Much like Battle Brothers, you select your difficulty at that start, but here, you can adjust it on the fly, having it take effect in the current game, in case things are just a bit too tough.
Like Battle Brothers, Veterum has intense, Turn-Based Tactical battles where you recruit a band of soldiers, who all independently gain exp and lvls, pick up injuries, and can die.
The Permadeath here is optional, like in Battle Brothers, so you can load and try again if you want to avoid any losses; also Veterum has a setting where down units are not killed, just debuffed; so a nice option for those not ready for the permanency of permadeath.
Veterum is Open World: you roam around an open world map, looking for jobs and adventures in order to get stronger, and more able to afford a larger party, and powerful magical artifacts.
Also, you have to make payroll, or your troops will leave.
Morale is present as well, in the form of mood, and your troops will panic and flee if they witness too many of their fellows fall.

Players get magic here too!
No more necromancers teasing you with powers you can’t have, in Veterum, you can get the super cool magic powers too! YES!
Unlike Battle Brothers, in Veterum, your leader takes to the field themselves, leading their men in person. If your leader dies, it is all over; so protect the leader!
In Veterum, there is a Zone of Control system on units, creating a steep cost to disengaging from enemies, as being in the zone of control of an enemy costs 3 AP by default to move out of, with a unit having 5 normally, with it usually costing either 3 or 4 to attack; so it is a steep cost that bites.
However, there are no attacks of opportunity by default.
This results in a more predictable sort of tactical combat, as you cannot be cut down by continually failing to disengage from the potentially never ending attacks of opportunity, as often happens in Battle Brothers.
Also, Veterum is on a Hex grid, not tiles, which certainly changes things, and there are no counter attacks by default, again, serving to reduce a bit of the swingy-ness of combats.

Note: This is an early look at the demo for Veterum, so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, Veterum is a fun, intense, Turn-Based Tactics RPG with incredible environmental interactivity, where you recruit your band of soldiers who all independently lvl up, and is easily worth a wishlist and a watch.
