Dan Discovers Holden's in Best Chook Shed Ever - WTF!
56Dan took off and west travelling with the family and that I get a call from him saying, "I am in the Best Chook Shed Ever" and that he will let me know the details later. I was wondering what the hell he was talking about but had to wait to see.
Dan caught up with Cam, that collections Holden and restored them for a living. So Cam picked up Dan and they cruised through the streets in VC Commodore in Bali to Cam's House. We will explain more about Cam and what he does more soon. Now Dan gets to Cam's Collection and its sitting in a massive Chook Shed with HQ Holden GTS Tribute with a bug catcher out of the bonnet, a Holden Overlander Ute, a Trike with VW running gear and so more more vehicles.
The HQ Holden GTS Tribute was a Kingswood with a 173 Holden Engine and three on the tree manual. Cam decided to change this into a HQ Holden GTS Tribute with a bug catcher and this sounds mean. Because there is no noise restrictions in Bali or laws about what you have on your vehicle, you can do what you want. The HQ GTS Tribute is now running a 350 Chevy Engine with powerglide. Cam uses this offer to cruise around the streets and have fun with it.
Now the other Holden in the shed is a Overlander Ute that save 4 years ago now and was well known in Bali at celebrations and Festivals in the 90's and was call Mad Dog. When Cam found it, the Overlander was just rusting around, so Cam had to save it. The Ute is running a 186 6 cylinder Holden Engine, front & rear Holden Diffs. Cam had to restore every panel on the Ute and he still working on finishing the final touches it means, but it a awesome vehicle to look at.
However, this is only vehicles that Cam has. He also has a Holden WB Panel Van and you know Dan & I love Panel Vans. This Panel Van used to be owned by Caltex for their projects in Indonesia in the 1980's. Caltex brought over 400 Holden Utes and Panel Vans for these project in the region and then sold them once they closed their projects up. Cam used this as a Daily Driver and had to do a lot of repairs to fix it. However, they use it travelling, sleeping in the back of the van, picking up items and more. It not a show car but I look amazing.
Cam is keeping a few thing under wraps at present, but we can tell this. Cam owns and operation Holden Resto Bali and he trying to finish his new workshop and premises that he turning into a travelling Destination for all to see. Cam wants to have a small restaurant, a bar, a show room and mechanical - restoration workshop all in one. This will allow travelers coming to Bali the chance to see his facilities. He is definitely not ready yet, but Cam has asked in Aussie Garage could cover the Grand Opening in Years time and we are looking forward to it.
