Also, there's a good chance that your DM doesn't want to DM for a bunch of dorkus characters that lose to the goblin during the opening session, nor listen to your melodramatic death throes after the goblin does kill you in one round during the first 5 minutes of the first session. I know I get derailed by having to wait for my party to roll new characters and it suuuuucks.
