Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Tradewest's 1992 racing game for the NES, Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat.
I played through the full first loop of the game. After finishing the 12-lap Tradewest Speedway, the game loops back to the first track. There is no ending.
I picked the girl with the hoop earrings because it cracked me up seeing it on the guy's body during the trophy ceremony at the end of each tace.
Taking a page from Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road released two years prior, Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat nails the spirit of the arcade overhead racers despite its grainy graphics and sometimes irritating sound effects. The music is pretty good, too.
I loved playing this with friends. Just like Super Offroad, it'll keep you busy forever as you devise strategies to beat Danny. He's such a douchebag, though! He makes no attempts at hiding the fact that the AI cheats mercilessly. Pit stops? Danny scoffs at the thought. Limited turbo? Danny laughs at those that have to budget powerups. No matter how much you upgrade the car, he will always be faster than you, so don't pull any punches. Use turbos to rear-end him and make his car catch fire. If he's in front of you at a pit stop, knock the car off of the jack stands - you might even kill some of the pit crew while you're at it!
The game is insanely difficult after the first loop around, but the first round is pretty fun and laid back as long as you keep a full stock of Nitro boosts.
And to really get the most out of it, play against a buddy.
