177Funky Beat is the song that plays during the beach stage of Data East's 1994 Neo Geo basketball game Street Slam, also known as Street Hoop (EUR) and Dunk Dream (JPN).

Street Slam was a superb arcade game with some seriously awesome music. All of the game's tracks have vocals, but "Funky Beat" was always my favorite of the bunch. I mean, piano, warbly singing, and rap in the same song? What's not to love?! In 2018, it's more than dated enough to be extremely cool once again.
Since these songs are all from a 90s arcade game, you can probably tell that the sound quality doesn't quite compare to what you'd hear from a CD. And when playing the game, the lyrics aren't always easy to understand - I know I'm not the only one that has badly misunderstood what's being said at times! Hopefully this helps somebody else out!
Because of this, I took it upon myself to subtitle the video with the actual lyrics. Most were taken from the soundtrack CD's liner notes, though I had to "interpret" those that weren't listed.
The audio track in this video is taken directly from the original MVS/AES game - not the CD - so this represents how it would've sounded playing back through an old arcade machine cabinet. Well, it's close. For the fully authentic experience, I'd have to make it sound like the tweeters had been blown from someone's attempt to play it over the din of a bar, a Pizza Hut, or a bowling alley on league night. The video was recorded from Retroarch using a couple of shaders for the CRT look and then heavily edited in Vegas Pro.
Anyways, Funky Heat and Street Slam. Super corny, and super awesome. Hope you guys agree!
