Dark Souls 2 (PS3/PS4) Gamechive (Location Guide: All Fragrant Branches of Yore & Petrified Statues)
"Location Guide: All Fragrant Branches of Yore & Petrified Statues"—Throughout Drangleic, players will encounter a total of five (5) petrified NPCs and enemies. Each should be released from their stony prisons, as they provide worthwhile measures to help a player on their journey. In addition, there are a total of eight (8) Fragrant Branches of Yore (3 extras) that can be obtained that can used to unpetrify these entities.
This gamechive contains the location of every Fragrant Branch of Yore, and the petrified statues encountered. They can be obtained in any order, but are documented here in the following sequence:
Fragrant Branch of Yore #1: Sinner's Rise
Found in a metal chest (behind the door) after the Lost Sinner boss is defeated.
Fragrant Branch of Yore #2: Harvest Valley
The first poison mist-filled area contains a large behemoth with a rider on its back. Behind it is a small area, and the branch is located on a corpse.
Fragrant Branch of Yore #3: Harvest Valley
From the Mines Bonfire, veer left to find an area with a bunch of Artificial Undeads (sickle-wielding enemies), and through the upper level and to the right, the branch will be on the corpse on the edge of the drop-off.
Fragrant Branch of Yore #4: Iron Keep
Purchase from NPC Magerold of Lanafir's for 7,500 souls.
Fragrant Branch of Yore #5: Shaded Woods
Unpetrify the Lion Clan Warrior (using a Fragrant Branch of Yore) that is blocking the path to the metal chest. Inside it is another branch, as well as the Lion Mage armor set.
* Fragrant Branch of Yore #6: Shaded Woods
Talk to NPC Manscorpion Tark while wearing the Ring of Whispers (purchased from Sweet Shalquoir in Majula) after having defeated the Scorpioness Najka boss, and he will give the player a branch. The entrance to his area is located over to the far left (and slightly behind) to the large Basilisk.
* Fragrant Branch of Yore #7: Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Received after defeating the Duke Tseldora in the Lord's Private Chamber, after the Duke's Dear Freja boss fight.
* Fragrant Branch of Yore #8: The Gutter
Found on a corpse at the end of The Gutter, just before the path that leads to Black Gulch.
* Note: Fragrant Branch of Yore #6--8 are optional and unnecessary as they will be 3 extras. Note that branches can't be carried over into subsequent playthroughs, (as they reset) but can always be sold to Lonesome Gavlan in Doors of Pharros for extra souls.

Petrified Statue #1: The Lost Bastille
Before the lever that releases the gate to Sinner's Rise, a set of steps leads upward to an area with exploding hollows. Blocking a bonfire in one of the cells is the petrified NPC Straid of Olaphis. Using a Fragrant Branch of Yore, free him to trade boss souls for unique items.
Petrified Statue #2: (Pre) Shaded Woods
From Majula, travel up the path that leads back to Things Betwixt, but instead of going there, veer right through some ruins and the petrified NPC Rosabeth of Melfia is found blocking a door switch. Use a branch to free her.
Petrified Statue #3: Shaded Woods
Unpetrify the Lion Clan Warrior (using a Fragrant Branch of Yore) that is blocking the path to the metal chest. Inside it is another branch, as well as the Lion Mage armor set.
Petrified Statue #4: Shaded Woods
Near the Shaded Ruins Bonfire is a petrified Lion Clan Warrior, but to get to it, the player has to travel all the way around to the other side (keeping right), go to the far end (where the bonfire can be seen), fall through weak planks in the grass, drop down to the next level in the cavern with the acid pools, and proceed through the opening, and turn left. Whew. Use a branch to free it. Upon its defeat, the Fang Key will be received, which is used to free NPC Weaponsmith Ornifex back in the cavern with the acid pools.
* Petrified Statue #5: Shaded Woods
From the Shaded Ruins Bonfire, look left, and using a running jump, get down to the area below, and another petrified Lion Clan Warrior will be blocking the path forward, which leads to NPC Manscorpion Tark. Note that using a branch here is unnecessary as there's another path in the area that also leads to Tark.
Petrified Statue #6: Aldia's Keep
Upon entering the keep, continue forward, and progress up the steps. There's a petrified Ogre a little farther up. Use a branch, and upon its defeat, a Dragon Acolyte Mask will be received.
