Dark Souls 3: Listen up Fonkers! This Is How You Use a Greatbow (Raw Clip)
4When you are fighting a 1v3/4 and don't expect backup to arrive soon you can go ahead and use a greatbow to try and pick off a summon or maybe even the host, at the very least get them to stay busy or take some damage. However don't just camp one location and hope they run in front of where you are aiming otherwise you'll miss your shot if they go a different path or worse you'll become so tunneled vision that you won't notice someone sneak up on you. There's not many unique places with a good line of sight across the map either so the gank will likely find you very quickly once they deal with the real invaders.
Even more importantly is that once you get a co-invader that you put down the greatbow and go to help them. Your greatarrows landing 200-600 damage on occasion is not going to help take down a gank. It will likely only end up stunlocking or knocking down an ally giving the gank a good opportunity to delete them for 3-5 estus refills (2 for host, 1 for each summon = way more hp regained than you'll do with a greatbow). What's more the gank will likely only view you as a nuisance and not an actual threat, they won't care about killing you because it's actually more beneficial to them to not have someone using an actual weapon chasing after them.
Notice at each point I take out my greatbow I don't have a co-invader or I've yet to know where they are but as soon I suspected that the gank was closing in on my hopeful new ally that I put the greatbow away. With the one exception being at the end when I figured the second Aldrich was going for a Force ledge cheese where I would likely not reach in time, regardless of how it went.
