These swords can be found off of Blackhand Gotthard's corpse at the start of the Grand Archives Bonfire. The corpse of Gotthard will not appear unless the player has defeated three bosses. The first would be the Abyss Watchers, then Yhorm the Giant. Finally, the player must also defeat Aldrich, Devourer of Gods.

The weapons are very potent even in the hands of a rookie. This goes double for what I have been researching around the web. It has a quite amazing thrust attack if you roll and then press L1. The player will thrust both swords into the opponent with good range after the roll. This also works with R1, however, the player will only thrust one of the blades.

It also has the unique spin-slash technique or skill. This battle skill can be useful but it is also easily countered. It can catch enemies before a jump attack and that may be the best time to use it for more advanced players, as mastering the blades may take some time.

This pair of blades can be both infused and buffed. It requires titanite for the upgrades. I personally think it is more tactical to use buffs such as resin's on the blades. I feel the blades are powerful at a base and can be proven more situational with certain resins. In this case, you can choose your resin from, lightning, fire, dark, and poison. The exception would be Carthus Rouge which can cause an enemy to bleed. I rather personally stick with the elements, but this is mainly due to the taste of myself rather than enough testing.

The swords are best suited for a 40/40 strength-dexterity build. They would fit ideally with the Carthus Milk Ring, The Leo ring which increases the potency of thrusting attacks. A Knight's ring and Hunter's ring will increase strength and dexterity by an extra 5 points which can also be huge in PvP. Using this build/spec with the rolling L1 counter can be devastating even without a buff. It is also implied by some Reddit.com users that the L1 rolling attack hits faster than an estoc and has been tested by that particular posting player.

In conclusion, this is one of the best weapons in the game. PvE or PvP. it is extremely tough to fight against if your opposing combatant is using the blades. Odds are in your favor with these weapons even as a rookie. Sadly, I have no excellent idea of an armor setup for this build. I can speculate that due to the amount of rolling you may be doing, that light armor could work best.

The Xanthous Set is an odd looking set of clothing or armor in Dark Souls III. The Crown which is the helmet or headpiece is the oddest of them all. It is the only piece which must be found individually as the other three pieces can be found all at once.

The Xanthous crown can be found off of Yellow Finger Heysel. You can find and defeat/kill Yellow Finger at the road of sacrifices or Faron Keep areas in the game. The rest of the armor set can be purchased from the Shrine Handmaiden at Firelink Shrine. You must obtain the Xanthous Ashes at Irithyll near the Jailers. Return the ashes to the Shrine Handmaiden and she will sell the rest of this armor set.
