This is a play-through using the "character" Shadow in the PS1 version of Darkstalkers 3. Read on below for more information...

Shadow is not really a character in this game, but instead a "takeover character", which means that every time you defeat the opponent, he takes over the opponent's character and then you will be the opponent's character for the next match. Therefore when you select Shadow, you will get a random character for the 1st match, then afterwards you will be the same character as your previous opponent for each future match. It is also possible to select the character you want for Shadow in the 1st match

To summarize: playing as Shadow forces the player to control their previously defeated opponent for the next match.

===== How to play as Shadow =====

On the character select screen, highlight the (?) box and press SELECT 5 times. Then press any attack button.

---- After winning a match, on the winning screen his quote is ".........", and the winning portrait image of the character he took over appears.

---- He has his own sprites which appears on the character select screen, route screen, the start of matches and the end of matches.

---- He has his own unique winning music theme. (I think)

---- When you complete the game with Shadow, you'll get the special credits where it shows each character's portrait image in sepia colours.

---- If you get on the High Score rankings list with him, he will be listed as a '?' question mark.

---- The game is known as Vampire Savior EX Edition in Japan.

===== About PS1 Darkstalkers 3 =====
Due to the PS1's hardware limitations, a LOT of character animation frames had to be cut... if you're used to the Arcade/Saturn versions of the game, you'll definitely notice it. The game features all the characters from the Darkstalkers series. So yes, Phobos, Pyron and Donovan are in.

However despite the animation cuts, the PS1 version of Darkstalkers 3 is actually quite special, as it is basically a 'collection' of Vampire Savior, Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 all rolled into one single game. If you unlock the Ex Options, you can get to select the system mode of the above three games... so for example if you select Vampire Hunter 2, you'll get the VH2 BGMS, endings and system (such as Pyron replacing Jedah as the game's main boss). It's good stuff and it's a good port of the arcade game.
