So, I've uploaded a few videos over the last couple of days, showcasing the Daytona Championship USA 'New Season' and talking about the changes it brings in the video description. But how does the New Season compare to the old one, if we compare them directly head-to-head?

I think Lakeside Speedway, the mirrored re-skin of Dinosaur Canyon, is the most noticeably different looking stage, so lets go with that (after a quick head-to-head with the opening attract demo on each game - I also do the same with the Lakeside attract at the end of the game) The graphics definitely look a bit better, Lakeside Speedway looks lighter which makes it easier to see the track and I think the cars look a bit more shiny and better defined. Still not sure what the new dynamic-in-game camera’s about…

The biggest gameplay improvement I noticed, and much more in-line with the old Model 2 game, was that (as far as I could tell) the cars no longer lose tons of speed if you accidentally clip a wall. That's a big improvement! It makes the game feel much more authentically Daytona and improves the flow of gameplay - that was really only my biggest issue with the old season version of the game, which I otherwise thought was very close to how the Model 2 Game played.

I haven't tried getting FFB working yet, which Boomslang, one of the Teknoparrot developers, mentioned was a big improvement over the previous version of Championship USA.

The 'New Season' was a software update for Daytona Championship USA by Sega that added new features to the game - from Sega's press blurb:

"Improved Car Handling – Lets players have greater control of their car and feel even closer to all the action
New Dynamic In-Game Camera – This new feature lets players experience the race with dynamic camera angles making the gameplay feel more natural.
New Graphics and Improved Lighting – These two features combined with the dynamic in-game camera deliver a bright, crisp and modern gameplay.
New Car Models and Damage Modelling – Players can challenge their friends with new cars and witness jaw-dropping crashes and damage to cars.
New Top 3 Race Highlights – This feature brings Daytona’s competitive game spirit to the front by letting players know their race position in relation to their competitors.
New Car Liveries – New liveries make all the cars look fresh attracting existing and new players.
Updated Live Player Camera – This improves the live overtake camera system, letting players show their race face and feel closer to the action!"
