DayZ Mod - How to get meat and cook it
84In this video I show how to get raw meat, light a fire and cook it.
Cooked meat is currently the best way to replenish blood in the game (800 units) if you're playing solo (if you're with a friend, a blood transfusion restores you completely, but it has to be administered by the other player).
Main items for the following are a hunting knife, a hatchet (or a wood pile) and a matchbox.
First, you need to locate an animal. I've seen rabbits, goats, sheep, chickens, wild boars and cows. In this video I came across a sheep, shot it, and selected "gut animal" with the mouse wheel, getting 5 pieces of meat.
Then I went to a wooded area, stood in front of a tree, and selected the hatchet to get a wood pile. After that, I used the matches, created and lit a fireplace, so I was finally able to select the option to cook the raw meat (again with the mouse wheel) and eat it, restoring my blood completely.
