DayZ is an open world survival video game currently in development by Bohemia Interactive. It is the stand-alone successor version of the award-winning mod of the same name. The game was released for Microsoft Windows via early access on Steam on December 16, 2013, and is currently in early alpha testing.

Wring out your clothing
If you have the notifications that are telling you that your character is wet you can lower this by wringing out your clothing. To do this remove the item of clothing you want to wring out and place it elsewhere in your inventory. You can now right click on it and select the option to wring it out.
Use the hotbar for weapons
Switching between weapons quickly can be a life saver, especially if you have a gun where you chamber a bullet individually. If you miss or do not do enough damage you will want to swap to a mele weapon fast. Drag weapons and drop them on your hot bar to assign them then use your keyboard numbers to quickly switch to the one you want.
Don't waste old clothes
Old clothes that you would normally discard may seem completley useless however they can still be of value to you in the form of rags. Rags can be used as bandages when you are bleeding which can save your life. I dont have to tell you how important that is in this game. To create rags put the clothing in your inventory and then drag a sharp objects such as a knife onto it. You can now select the option to create rags.
Use a silenced weapon
This is assuming that you can find one and the point here is obvious. You can take out zombies in close proximity to others without alerting them and it's also useful if you happen to miss. Just like I did here.
Check the durability of items.
Each item you find will have a durability status that ranges from pristine to damaged. Pristine gear is far more effective. Aim to collect all pristine gear and replace your stuff that's damaged or worn.
