Daze Before Christmas Game Sample - Genesis/MD
Developed by Funcom and puplished by Sunsoft, "Daze Before Christmas" is one of the few Christmas-themed video games to see commercial release, but even then, it was released in very limited quantities and there's also a prototype version for the SNES (which was completed; it's stated only one programmer worked on the SNES version). Source code from the Genesis version of "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story" was also integrated into the Genesis version of DBC.
Santa is out to drop goodies down chimneys around the world, but first he has to save his elves, regain his lost presents and reindeer(s), and stop the evil "Louse Mouse" who wishes to ruin Christmas. Using Santa's magical powers to turn baddies into presents and burning obstacles or grabbing an enchanted potion to turn Santa into his fierce alter ego, Anti-Clause, you'll travel from level to level finding presents and reindeer and ocassionally flying in Santa's sleigh to drop off presents.
There's not much else to the game. Anti-Clause is invincible but can't open presents, doesn't convert enemies into presents, and lacks the ability to use other magical upgrades like fire. Good Santa is vulnerable to attacks but can do everything you need him to do. Both Santas can also jump on enemies and objects. Both games are mainly the same, but there are a few minor differences. The Genesis/MD version is a little easier and it's easier to see platforms and such below you due to a greater field of view. The SNES version has some different enemy placement, cleaner graphics, a few stage intermission screen differences, and higher quality audio (some tunes sound better in the Gen/MD game though).
This is a video of the Gen/MD game, showing some stuff in the game. The SNES video goes through the same stages, so you can watch them both to see some differences. Enjoy.
