15Welcome to the tenth episode of Cold and Dark Startup, a tutorial series by Threshold, where we go through aircraft startup procedures across multiple flight simulators.
We’re staying in DCS World for this one, and starting up the F/A-18C Legacy Hornet, a carrier-capable multirole fighter with a complex and highly detailed systems model.
This tutorial focuses on field operations, meaning the startup procedure is done on the ground at an airbase—not from an aircraft carrier.
The steps shown in this video closely follow Chuck’s Guide for the DCS F/A-18C, a well-known and trusted community resource. If you're familiar with that guide, you’ll recognize much of the flow here, with a few small tweaks for clarity and pacing.
As always, this series focuses only on startup procedures, keeping things straightforward and to the point.
