The F/A-18C Raven One campaign was announced some time ago, but I finally got around to flying it. This is another custom campaign for DCS by Baltic Dragon which follows the events in the book Raven One by Kevin Miller. The story follows a squadron of F/A-18Cs conducting military exercises in the Persian Gulf as they deal with ever increasing tension and aggression from Iranian armed forces.
In the fourth mission, Flip (my pilot) is tasked with sea reconnaissance of ships near the aircraft carrier group. The flight goal is to fly low over the ships in the search area to determine if any of them could be hostile Iranian vessels. What starts out as a routine patrol quickly escalates into a fight to save the lives of crewmembers aboard a neutral vessel stranded close to an Iranian island. At the end of the mission, I make a CASEIII recovery at night, but it takes me a few tries since I haven't flow the Hornet in a month.
