I took pieces of info and instructions from friends and others online, and put it together so I could play it on a crt tv from my windows PC.

If you want to use with groovymame on a crt like I'm doing, I recommend building from source because with groovymame, I really don't understand what i'm doing. (though there will be a link to a build at the bottom of this post). So instead follow these instructions I pieced together from Mamedev.org.

the lines to add to groovymame's source can be found by following this to github: http://mame.dorando.at/svn/?rev=183309.

To compile groovymame in Windows, grab msys64-2020-11-03.exe from https://www.mamedev.org/tools/. Note Mamedev's instructions: "If you are installing it in a location other than the default (C:\Users\Public\msys64), after you unpack, double-click: autorebase.bat."

Then you'll divert from the guide where you git clone mame, instead "git clone https://github.com/antonioginer/GroovyMAME.git" because you want Groovymame for your CRT TV.

Next take a look at https://github.com/mamedev/mame/commit/acaec51386e64a2aaa4d8df615904e0e873a3965. There will be two frames, each represents a source code file for Mame.

Look at the first frame on that page, see the code highlighted in green? (lines 909-923, and 1047-1049) Take that and add them into your file (you can drop them in the same lines): src/mame/drivers/cv1k.cpp.

To make it pass mame's checksum, edit your cv1k.cpp file, find CRC(7420302f) SHA1(7db4bd7a72f84fbd6e9c7966769d7b6fccc17cea) and replace it with CRC(668e4cd6) SHA1(da0b10865df3a3e46cf8a109ca88a551faba4483)

We have one more file to change, on github go to the second frame which represents mame.lst, see line 11636 highlighted in green?, put that in your src/mame/mame.lst

After that, you run make (Mamedev recommends for a 4 core cpu to start with make -j5) , and then check msys64/src/mame for your newly built mame w/ DDP SDOJ support. :)

Unfortunately my crt emudriver settings were off, and that's why the top and bottom is cut off. :O
I'm playing this on a windows pc, with a dual gpu setup. There's a Nvidia rtx 2080 that runs the game, and an amd 6450 GPU that outputs to the crt (via crt emudriver). Then this goes into a vga to ypbpr transcoder I purchased from linuxbot3000 on ebay.

this beautiful budget set I have here is the Sanyo ds24425. Mine needs to be opened because there's some horitzontal ringing artifacting going on, but it actually enhances tate games :).
