Dead Island (Gameplay #2) - Analog Revolution
On my new PC, Dead Island is the first game in which I've felt the need to plug in a gamepad (an old PS2 controller via USB cable with the inofficial Xbox360ce mod, to be specific). The reason for this is that DI's alternative so-called "analog" controls are simply not available when playing with mouse and keyboard.
The analog mode gives the player full control over how the character swings his or her melee weapons (sort of like a much more fleshed-out version of Daggerfall's "swipe across the screen" combat), and this substantially increased precision makes the game more skill-based and tactical since targetting individual body parts and breaking as well as dismembering limbs is an important part of Dead Island's surprisingly methodical action gameplay.
