Dead Rising 1 (the first DeadRising) story mode campaign game review on Windows PC
This is my review of the story mode campaign of the zombie apocalypse game Dead Rising (DeadRising 1, the first Dead Rising) on Windows PC. With a similar theme to George A. Romero's classic survival horror movie Dawn of the Dead, in Dead Rising you find yourself in a large shopping mall overrun with zombies. Much of the environment as well as what can be found in the stores of this shopping mall can be used to your advantage (either as weapons against the zombies or to help you and your followers stay alive). Dead Rising is very much a game of time management. Aside from zombies, you will also come across other A.I. human survivors who you can feed, arm, and help escort to the safehouse - in doing so, your player character will advance in XP level, giving you the capacity for more health, the capacity to carry more items/weapons, and new abilities and attacks to help you stay alive as you progress in the game. Survivors can only stay alive for so long on their own, so if you do not get to them in time, they will perish, and in losing said survivor, you will lose the ability to save said particular survivor for the duration of the story mode (each survivor has their own look, their own text dialogue, and some even provide additional rewards once saved). In addition to zombies, you will also have to face off against psychopaths (A.I. humans who have gone mad and who pose a danger to you and/or the survivors you have in tow). Not only are you to save as many survivors as possible, but also your goal as a photojournalist is to photograph and expose the zombie outbreak (and the mystery surrounding its genesis) to the world.
