Pour lava to make the path longer but don't close it completely. Then call the villagers to the totem and place the exploding tree on the right end of the path. Once the villagers are at a safe distance blow it up to create an outlet for the water. I tried to blow it up twice and make the hole bigger, but the tree didn't grow where I planted it. At this point finish the path and cover it with earth if necessary so the villagers can cross.
I got a new record with 01:36:12 which is my current personal best.
