Deadly Towers - One of the Worst Games Ever Made? Part 1 (RG129a)
Deadly Towers might initially look like it's similar to The Legend of Zelda, although once you start playing the game it will quickly become clear that that isn't the case, and for all of the wrong reasons. Here we will be following the story of Prince Myer, a guy who has to go and destroy some evil stuff by climbing to the top of seven towers, obtaining the bells that are at the top of each of them, and then burning them in a fire.
Unfortunately what could have been a great game suffers a lot of faults along the way, in the form of poor gameplay controls, bad map design, and even less information regarding what you need to do than most other NES games would give the player at the time (which was already almost nothing).
So if you do dare to play this game then you better pull out your phone or pencil and paper and get maps of all of the dungeons put together. Otherwise you will be wandering around for all eternity, wondering if you have already traveled through the very similarly decorated rooms, wondering if you will ever find your way back to the outside world, and wondering if you will ever be able to recover from the incredible amount of brain cell loss that this game has caused you.
I take it back, I'd much rather play an education Super Mario game than this!...maybe, I'm not quite at that point yet. I guess that we will have to see just what the next part has in store for me. Although I hope that you enjoy this small gameplay demonstration of a game that is often criticized by people, many of which probably haven't even played the game before. I know that I'm not the Angry Video Game Nerd AVGN, but hopefully you find this entertaining nonetheless!
