Deep Cut - Smeared Canvas: FAN LYRICS (Splatoon 3)

Like with a lot of my lyrics, the first line came to me a while before I ever got around to writing the rest. "Freedom is not gifted, it is taken" is a very WhyWhyZed lyric (all it's missing is a nature metaphor lol), so I wasn't a great many steps ahead in distinguishing this one from my others. So I thought: why not touch on a part of Splatoon's lore that I haven't before?
Seeing as "Smeared Canvas" plays during New Agent 3's ascent up to the rocket, it made sense to have it be a song of encouragement like "Hide and Sleek." This time, however, the encouragement came not just from Deep Cut themselves, but from every last bit of sea life that rose onto land all those millennia ago, that forged the beginning of something entirely new for the Earth, and that refused to cease in the face of a hostile world. Seaborne life had faced a million apocalypses since it first emerged almost four billion years before; it was not about to let up now.
