And just when you thought that you nutty problem is finally solved, comes another pack of evil monsters trying to get your precious nuts! Defend your nuts once more in this fun shooting game called Defend Your Nuts 2! Just like before, your focus here is to make sure that all nuts are safe. Shoot all the monsters that will appear on the screen. Always try to hit their head for better damage. Collect the coins they will drop too. They will also drop gems than can be sold for coins. Use the coins you've earned in the shop to buy upgrades for your weapons or walls to protect your nuts.

Defend Your Nuts 2 is a typical defense game with some unusual elements. Perhaps the strangest part of the game is that you're controlling a little squirrel fighting against the forces of evil in an attempt to protect his nuts. Ok, perhaps that doesn't sound all that great, but it's perfectly harmless actually.

The game certainly looks great, with all the graphics drawn in a charming and adorable cartoony style. Your squirrel doesn't really have that much animation to him, but the highlight of the game will be the baddies you face. At first you'll be up against some basic skeleton warriors who (for some reason) are trying to steal your nuts from you. Eventually, the baddies will progress in toughness from mere skeletal grunts to more powerful fantasy creatures such as orcs and giant bugs. Each of those baddies is drawn really well and they all have their own little attqack and death animations making for some rather aesthetically pleasing game play.

The audio could do with a bit more to it, but for the most part it works well enough. The baddies all give little sounds when they die, but these tend to get repetitive so it's not really anything to write home about. The music works for the game, but like the sound effects, it's nothing really special.

If you've played one defense game, then you have a pretty good idea how this game works. You're at one side of the screen and the baddies come in wave after wave from the other side. Where this game really shines though is in its atmosphere. Lots of games are simple clones of other games these days, so it does take quite a bit to make one game stand out from the others. Defend Your nuts does this by bringing you a fantasy cast of defenders ranging from blunderbuss wielding squirrels to rogue, warrior, and archer bunnies who all come together to defend a bunch of nuts. The game can start out a bit slow, but a few levels in, you'll be clicking away at all the bad guys and frantically hoping your bunnies don't get beaten to a pulp. There are twenty five levels in all, so it's a bit of a short game, but what there is is certainly a lot of fun.

Like other defense games, it's not simply clicking like mad though. As you have a limited amount of ammo for your weapons (guns, bow and arrows, wizard's staves, etc...) it does take some strategy to ensure that you're able to keep fending off wave after ave of the baddies without running out of the ability to defend. Thankfully though, you'll have help along the way. As you progress, bunnies will be freed and come to your aid. You can choose what role they'll play, either offensive or defensive. A good balance of both is a good idea, as relying solely on defense will see the baddies swarm to your wall in seconds while relying solely on offense will see your bunnies slaughtered as they take to the field (and they definitely -will- get slaughtered).

All in all, Defend Your nuts 2 is, while certainly a typical example of the defense game genre, a great game with great fun. So what are you waiting for? Go on and give it a shot!
