7th Armoured Brigade, based at Bergen-Hohne in Germany, will be losing their tanks, as part of the reshaping of the Army. Known as the Desert Rats, they are the famous Tankies who defeated Rommel's Afrika Corps in the Deserts of North Africa in World War Two. It has been in the pipeline for a number of years. Since the return of 7th Armoured Brigade from Op Herrick 14, the use of Challenger tanks had been waning, with very few remaining at Hohne.
