The Role 3 Hospital at Camp Bastion is the worlds leading trauma centre.

An international team of regular and reserve medical practitioners work side by side on the wards and in the operating Theatres treating everything from minor injuries to major trauma.

Fiona Weir was granted access to the Hospital and in the first of a series of special reports she takes a look at the staff and the service they provide.

She also speaks to the current commander of the Role 3 Hospital - TA Colonel Alan Black, who's also commanding officer of Belfast-based 204 Field Hospital.
