Patheon desktop environment comes with Elementary OS, but is also available for most other Linux Distros. It’s built using Vala and uses the GTK framework. Elementary team have built a few Pantheon specific apps to replace Gnome equivalents, such as a file manager, music player, image viewer, video player, text editor, and software centre.
