Destiny 2 Part 55. Reactivating the reactor. (Be Brave Lightfall Campaign DLC Blind)
Part Synopsis: Speaking with some allies on Neptune, they end up not advancing the story whatsoever. Conversing with Nimbus unlocks the next mission. The guardian heads over and starts it. Called Breakneck, he has to protect the reactor from the Vex taking over. Heavy resistance lies in the way almost immediately.
Once inside, tons more Vex occupy the interior. Navigating the environment requires using the Strand in certain scenarios. Particular rooms end up full of hostiles that require everything be eliminated to proceed. Dealing with confluxes set up while fighting off incoming mobs becomes overwhelming. When getting to the reactor, it's rebooted without further incident. The guardian must hastily evacuate as the building is rigged to explode. Finding a way out is equally difficult, although eventually completed.
Part Notes: The continuous gauntlets in fighting Vex in one room, then another and another got tedious very quickly in this mission. I do appreciate the variety with parkouring via the strand at least. But having to shoot down the doors where I can't recall a single instance where this was required before brings back the irritation, unfortunately.
Playthrough Information: This portion of the series will focus on the Lightfall DLC campaign. They will be done on Be Brave difficulty. All the levels will be blind. This is done for commentary purposes in completing the story. I have no intent of covering any major activities newly introduced in the DLC. Gameplay shown on Xbox Series X.
About Game: Destiny 2 is a free-to-play online-only multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie. It was originally released as a pay to play game in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. It became free-to-play, utilizing the games as a service model, under the New Light title on October 1, 2019, followed by the game's release on Stadia the following month, and then PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms in December 2020. The game was published by Activision until December 31, 2018, when Bungie acquired the publishing rights to the franchise. It is the sequel to 2014's Destiny and its subsequent expansions.
Set in a "mythic science fiction" world, the game features a multiplayer "shared-world" environment with elements of role-playing games. Like the original, activities in Destiny 2 are divided among player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) game types. In addition to normal story missions, PvE features three-player "strikes" and dungeons and six-player raids. A free roam patrol mode is also available for each destination which feature public events as well as activities not available in the original. These activities have an emphasis on exploration of the destinations and interactions with non-player characters (NPCs); the original Destiny only featured NPCs in social spaces. PvP features objective-based modes, as well as traditional deathmatch game modes.
Upon release, Destiny 2 received generally favorable reviews from critics. Praise focused on its improvements, particularly with regards to its initial story, as well as its gameplay, visuals, exploration focus, multiplayer, and public occasions. Reviews were divided on the recategorization of the weapons, the Leviathan raid, and new modes. Destiny 2 was nominated for and won various awards, such as at The Game Awards 2017 and Game Critics Awards.
Destiny 2 Lightfall DLC: Destiny 2: Lightfall is a major expansion for Destiny 2, a first-person shooter video game by Bungie. Representing the seventh expansion and the sixth year of extended content for Destiny 2, it was released on February 28, 2023, after being pushed back from its original fall 2022 release as a result of the delay of the previous expansion, The Witch Queen. Lightfall revolves around the exiled Cabal emperor Calus, a recurring character throughout Destiny 2, now a Disciple of the Witness, as he, the Witness, and their army of Shadow Legion Cabal and Tormentors attack the secret, technologically advanced human city of Neomuna on Neptune to procure a mysterious being called the Veil to herald a second Collapse.
The expansion added new content across the game, including new missions, Player versus Environment locations, a Player versus Player map, player gear, weaponry, and a new raid. Two new dungeons as well as a returning reprised raid from either the original Destiny or one previously removed from Destiny 2 will be released over the course of the year. There are also four seasonal content offerings to be released throughout Year 6 of the game: Season of Defiance, which was available alongside the expansion, Season of the Deep, which is the current season that began on May 23, 2023, and two unnamed seasons to be released later in the year.
