Destiny 2 Part 53. Losing the veil in vain. (Be Brave Lightfall Campaign DLC Blind)
Part Synopsis: Getting back on track with the Lightfall campaign, the guardian is on Neptune looking for Osiris. Enemies are scattered throughout the area. Various contacts communicate via the radio about the predicament at hand. Further in, a weird energy structure empowers him with Strand abilities. Using them, he fights off an incoming assault.
This causes an exhaustion effect that forces the guardian to pass out.
Osiris is saved by the protectors of this planet in the meantime. A scene shows Calus speaking with the Witness about securing something called the Veil. The guardian talks with a Cloud Strider named Nimbus who directs him back to Osiris. Separate conversations between him and another Strider known as Rohan. The guardian rushes towards the Veil to secure it. Fighting through hordes to get there, the effort ends in vain as Calus takes everything over.
Part Notes: Still entirely lost on the story, although liking the gameplay. Having a nice time experiencing everything again. Getting back into Destiny 2 after whatever hiatus always becomes natural.
Playthrough Information: This portion of the series will focus on the Lightfall DLC campaign. They will be done on Be Brave difficulty. All the levels will be blind. This is done for commentary purposes in completing the story. I have no intent of covering any major activities newly introduced in the DLC. Gameplay shown on Xbox Series X.
About Game: Destiny 2 is a free-to-play online-only multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie. It was originally released as a pay to play game in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. It became free-to-play, utilizing the games as a service model, under the New Light title on October 1, 2019, followed by the game's release on Stadia the following month, and then PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms in December 2020. The game was published by Activision until December 31, 2018, when Bungie acquired the publishing rights to the franchise. It is the sequel to 2014's Destiny and its subsequent expansions.
Set in a "mythic science fiction" world, the game features a multiplayer "shared-world" environment with elements of role-playing games. Like the original, activities in Destiny 2 are divided among player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) game types. In addition to normal story missions, PvE features three-player "strikes" and dungeons and six-player raids. A free roam patrol mode is also available for each destination which feature public events as well as activities not available in the original. These activities have an emphasis on exploration of the destinations and interactions with non-player characters (NPCs); the original Destiny only featured NPCs in social spaces. PvP features objective-based modes, as well as traditional deathmatch game modes.
Upon release, Destiny 2 received generally favorable reviews from critics. Praise focused on its improvements, particularly with regards to its initial story, as well as its gameplay, visuals, exploration focus, multiplayer, and public occasions. Reviews were divided on the recategorization of the weapons, the Leviathan raid, and new modes. Destiny 2 was nominated for and won various awards, such as at The Game Awards 2017 and Game Critics Awards.
Destiny 2 Lightfall DLC: Destiny 2: Lightfall is a major expansion for Destiny 2, a first-person shooter video game by Bungie. Representing the seventh expansion and the sixth year of extended content for Destiny 2, it was released on February 28, 2023, after being pushed back from its original fall 2022 release as a result of the delay of the previous expansion, The Witch Queen. Lightfall revolves around the exiled Cabal emperor Calus, a recurring character throughout Destiny 2, now a Disciple of the Witness, as he, the Witness, and their army of Shadow Legion Cabal and Tormentors attack the secret, technologically advanced human city of Neomuna on Neptune to procure a mysterious being called the Veil to herald a second Collapse.
The expansion added new content across the game, including new missions, Player versus Environment locations, a Player versus Player map, player gear, weaponry, and a new raid. Two new dungeons as well as a returning reprised raid from either the original Destiny or one previously removed from Destiny 2 will be released over the course of the year. There are also four seasonal content offerings to be released throughout Year 6 of the game: Season of Defiance, which was available alongside the expansion, Season of the Deep, which is the current season that began on May 23, 2023, and two unnamed seasons to be released later in the year.
