Skipping ahead a few minutes (because I lost the game footage), but all that happened was cleanup in the Barnard's star system, and another random event: the Blaser has been invented. This is the ultimate defensive weapon, but since Blasers can't move, I can't attack with them.

Lalande is a very small system - so small that it hardly seems worth assigning a fleet to guard it... but with Blasers, we don't have to.
