I was trying to get playtester feedback on the difficulty of the autoscroll portion of the course, so I blocked off access to the other parts of the course, and waited to see what the clear rate looked like when it got a first clear. I also checked the stats of the profile of the person that cleared it to get a better picture of the type of player that completed it. My goal was to make sure an average player didn't struggle too much and this matched my expectation. I didn't always do something like this, but experience taught me that it's not a bad idea because it can sometimes be more realistic to get data from random players instead of players that are incentivized to keep playing your courses(like in a viewer levels stream).
